+Course Overview

Myotherapy course will prepare students to become a Myotherapist specialising in the assessment, treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal conditions to enable them to use clinical skills to location the sources of the symptoms and identify dysfunctions. Dry needling, Cupping and Tens machine are used in conjunction with Myotherapy techniques to treat clients. Underpinning knowledge of Anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics and pathology is required to understand the relationship between the myofascial and also how the muscles and connective tissues relate to other systems of the body.

Clinical Requirements

Students enrolled in 22316VIC Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy are required to complete a minimum of 75 hours practical experience in MTI’s fully supervised Student Massage Clinic involving 30 clients with varied musculoskeletal conditions. Clients must include males and females from different stages of life.

+Entry Requirements

  • Minimum 18 year of age
  • Successful completion of Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment conducted by the college
  • Have gained competencies equivalent to:
    • HLT50307 Diploma of Remedial Massage or
    • HLT52015 Diploma of Remedial Massage
  • Must have:
    • Access to a computer (with Adobe Reader, Microsoft Words and a web browser)
    • Access to the Internet
    • Access to a video and audio recording device
    • Computer skills include being comfortable using computers and the Internet to perform basic tasks such as accessing an online video conferencing software; using Microsoft Word and Adobe Reader; downloading, scanning, and uploading documents; accessing online materials; looking up information; reading and sending emails; and completing forms. (If students need any help regarding access to a computer and meeting the computer skill requirements, the college can provide support for the students)
