First Aid Short Courses

This short CPR course provides students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies.This 4 hour short course is taught as part of HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.

Previously known as Apply First Aid or Senior First Aid, this course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response in a range of situations including life support, management of a causality/s and other first aid emergencies. This course is suitable for participants that require First Aid certification in the workplace or as a requirement for an association or whole qualification.

Massage Short Courses

Aormatherapy is the introduction to the philosophy and practical applications of basic aromatherapy.  Aromatherapy is constructed on the use of botanically derived essential oils which are known for their agreeable aromas, their cosmetic values and their ability to stimulate the body’s self-healing processes.  This course aims to introduce you to the safe practices of basic aromatherapy, understanding the professional responsibilities of practice, and of course the essential oil profiles.

Level 1 includes the profiles of 6 essential oils that are therapeutically designed to promote or induce relaxation.  You will develop your knowledge base and understanding of the essential oil character profiles of

• Lavender   • Chamomile  • Melissa    • Rose    • Sweet Orange     • Ylang Ylang

Level 2 includes the profiles of 6 essential oils that are therapeutically designed to promote reduction of muscle pain or Analgesia.  You will develop your knowledge base and understanding of the essential oil character profiles of

•Lavender, Chamomile, Rose     • Rosemary    • Black Pepper   • Ginger  • Peppermint          • Eucalyptus

Cupping Therapy is an Ancient Oriental form of Chinese medicine, used to promote the circulation of chi or energy.  Cup applies a local suction created on the skin, this is used to mobilize blood flow in order to support detoxification, promote healing and enhance general wellbeing.  Cupping may be used to treat muscle tension and pain, inflammation and injury.  The aim of the cupping workshop is to introduce Oriental and Myofascial cupping techniques to incorporate with your remedial treatment.

Pre-requisites: Diploma of Remedial Massage / Anatomy Entrance Exam

Myofascial Dry Needling is based on the foundations of Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy.  It is an advanced technique that targets the muscle fascia with the penetration of a delicate, sterile, solid filament dry needle into the trigger point.  This technique, applied during the course of a massage treatment, aims to deactivate the trigger point and achieve a therapeutic outcome.

Stone Massage Therapy is a specialized massage technique that has the Swedish strokes as the foundation to the massage treatment, where you will learn to use smooth heated/Cooled stones as an extension of your own hands. Stone can be placed at different points of the body to effect a therapeutic change too.  This course offers the massage therapist to upgrade their skills to provide clients with a deeply therapeutic experience.  Benefits may include relaxation, reduction of inflammation, detoxification and pain relief.

Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy is a remedial technique that is focused to apply direct pressure to the soft tissue structure referred as a Trigger Point.  Trigger Points can present with common symptoms and be a source of muscle pain, experienced as a local or referred pain

Aromatherapy is constructed on the use of botanically derived essential oils.  Essential Oils contain highly concentrated aromatic compounds that, in order to be carried into the body, require dilution.  In science, oil and water don’t mix.  This course introduces you to the safe practices and applications of mixing essential oils with water for therapeutic applications.  You will develop your knowledge base and understanding of the uplifting essential oils, review the relaxant and analgesic oils, and incorporate these oils into various hydrotherapeutic applications:

  • Bath Oil Blends     • Steam Inhalation                • Foot Bath

• Room Spray            • Herbal Repellent Spray      • Bath Salts

Swedish oil massage is a form of Relaxation techniques, and is all about relaxing. It focuses on giving the client time to recover from the stresses of daily life. This  2 day beginner short course will teach you the fundamental techniques of Swedish Oil which involve gliding and deep relaxing pressure.

Trigger points, also known are described as hyperirritable spots in skeletal muscle that are associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fibres. Participants will learn how to identify and release a trigger point to restore movement and reduce pain.

Aromatherapy (Essential Oil Therapy) is a caring hands-on therapy which seeks to induce relaxation, increase energy and promote health and wellness through a reduction of stress. Participants have two levels of knowledge available for learning.
